This is the easiest recipe for simple cocktail sauce which makes a great addition to boiled shrimps, or fried meat or chicken main dishes. I even serve it as a side sauce for russian meat dumplings (pelmeni).
You can vary amount of each ingredient to taste: if you like ketchup taste more – add less mayonnaise; add more garlic if you want to make sauce more spicy; also fresh parsley can be replaced with cilantro.
Ingredients:
- 1 cup of ketchup
- ½ cup of mayonnaise
- 2 cloves of garlic
- Fresh parsley or cilantro (about 3 tablespoons if chopped)
- Salt to taste
- Ground black pepper to taste
How to prepare, step by step:
- Prepare ingredients: pour ketchup into a bowl, rinse fresh parsley:
- Pour mayonnaise to the same bowl, you may vary amount of it to your taste:
- Salt and add ground pepper to taste:
- Peel garlic, and press it:
- Mix good:
- Fine chop parsley and add it to the bowl:
- Mix again:
- Pour ready ketchup-mayonnaise sauce to the clean bowl and serve as a cocktail sauce for shrimps, or as a side sauce for meat dumplings, fried chicken or other fried meat dish:
Can I use dried parsley?
I don’t think it will be a good substitution, fresh parsley is a better choice here.
I make this to put on salad except I add milk to make it creamier
Hi
Great recipe. Thanks for publishing.
I am thinking of making some and I would like to know how to preserve it over a long period.
I don’t think it can be preserved for long, greens and garlic will not survive it. But it can survive few days in fridge in air tight container.
